In such instances, the portion of the order that matches with existing buyers or sellers is executed immediately, while the remaining balance remains open in the order book until further matches are found or the order is manually cancelled.
This is most common with Limit Orders in markets with lower trading volumes or during periods of high price volatility. While a partial fill occurs, you will only be charged trading fees on the portion of the order that has successfully executed.
